Interim Frontend Engineering Manager
Our client is a Company with their headquarters in western Skåne. They are looking for an Interim Frontend Engineering Manager.
The Frontend Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and developing a team of approximately 20 employed front-end-oriented developers. The skills in the team are diverse and include, for example, developers such as iOS, Android, web developers, UX designers, CRM developers and more.
The team consists of employees from different parts of the world with different backgrounds and experiences.
The role ensures high quality in the form of skills and working methods for the developers with customer and user experience, quality and collaboration at the center.
You will report to the head of Software Engineering department and be part of its management team together with 3 other managers. You work closely with these teams and especially the sister team responsible for full-stack developers to ensure uniform working methods, effective workforce planning, and the right development for employees.
Managerial responsibility also includes responsibility for consultants who are needed to handle specific needs or to increase capacity in the teams.
Key responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
Lead, coach, and develop frontend developers
Ensure a sustainable work environment with high psychological safety, motivation and commitment
Responsible for recruitment, onboarding and team structuring
Handle performance, goals, salary discussions and any labor law issues
Some Technical Management (together with senior developers and architects)
Set the direction for frameworks and technical principles and collaborate with architecture management to develop and implement our frontend architecture
Ensure quality, and performance in frontend developers
Driving standardization, reusability (design systems, component libraries), and technical debt management
Be a support or facilitator in major technical choices
Delivery & Collaboration
Ensure efficient delivery in collaboration with, for example, product owners, full-stack developers’ platform and business
Follow up on your team's capacity, flow, and deliverability
Contribute to realistic planning and prioritization
Manage dependencies and coordination with other teams and managers
Process & Improvement
Establish and improve ways of working
Drive continuous improvement based on data and feedback
Mandate
Budget and Personnel Responsibility for about 20 front-end developers + consultants
Decisions on the team's skills development, staffing and working methods
Impact on technical roadmap and priorities in the frontend area
Expected skills and experience
Leadership
Proven experience of leading larger teams (10+ people)
5 years of managerial experience, preferably in complex IT organizations
Ability to combine empathetic leadership with clarity and requirements
Used to lead through others (senior developers, and solution architects)

Technical understanding
Strong background in frontend development (e.g. React, Vue, modern web platforms and CRM solutions)
Good understanding of architecture, CI/CD, performance, security, and availability
Sufficient technical level to challenge, prioritize, and make well-informed decisions (not necessarily hands-on)
Preferably experience and knowledge in AI assisted development
Experience from working with DevOps, Agile models such as SAFE, Scrum Kanban or equivalent.

Very good communication skills, both technically and business-related
Experience of working cross-functionally in complex organizations
