CEO for a Fast-Growing International MedTech Company
Our client is a Danish MedTech company at the stage where commercial growth needs to accelerate. The company develops and manufactures patented, high-precision technology for specialist clinics and has become the quality and price benchmark in its category. Its products are sold through a global network of specialist distributors in the US, Europe, Asia and emerging growth markets. They are made at the company’s own factory in Denmark. The company is owned by its founders and a group of business angels.
The technology is proven, market access is in place, and revenue has nearly doubled year on year. Repeat orders from several markets in Europe, Asia and the US show that the products have earned their place in markets worldwide. The market is also moving from traditional methods to new technology, and that shift has only just begun. The core product is becoming a full product platform with complementary products. In 2027, the company also expects to launch a new AI-based diagnostic solution, which opens the way to build a software and services business serving clinics globally.
The current CEO built the distributor network and will step down at year-end as planned. The company is now moving from an entrepreneurial scale-up to a professional international organisation. The main risk is no longer the technology but the ability to scale. The company is therefore looking for a commercial and operational CEO who can accelerate sales, tighten distributor management and move leadership time from administration to growth.
You will have full P&L and organisational responsibility and report to the Board of Directors. The organisation has around 35 employees across production, R&D, sales and marketing. Finance, regulatory affairs, quality and legal are partly supported by external specialists. You will work closely with one of the founders, who remains a key technical driving force in production and R&D.
Key responsibilities:
Drive strong international revenue growth with full responsibility for top-line and bottom-line results
Lead, challenge and develop the distributor network. This includes setting clear performance requirements, following up closely, and deciding whether each partner can deliver on the market’s potential or whether a better alternative is needed
Crack the code in the major markets where the potential has not yet been realised, including the US and key European markets, with strategic access to clinic chains, Medical Directors and other decision-makers
Maintain and enforce a consistent global pricing structure and robust distributor agreements. The agreements must also be reviewed to make room for new products, diagnostics and software
Turn strong clinical evidence into broad adoption in clinics through collaboration with key opinion leaders and professional networks
Build and professionalise the organisation, including sales, operations and supply chain, finance and HR, with a smart mix of permanent, part-time and specialist resources
Ensure delivery reliability, cash management and planning, so that production, inventory and working capital follow actual demand
Manage and strengthen the company’s IP position together with the founders and external advisers
Strengthen governance, reporting and investor relations so the company is well positioned for future capital raises and strategic opportunities
Your profile:
You have a proven track record with full P&L responsibility and of building and scaling an international commercial and operational organisation
You have extensive experience driving growth through third-party distributors in the US, Europe and Asia, and you understand a local market well enough to challenge a distributor’s explanations
You have solid experience with commercial structuring, global pricing and distributor agreements
You are a commercial leader who executes, rather than a traditional salesperson. You are hungry for growth and balance it with financial discipline and operational rigour
You build trust and deliver results across cultures, and you tell a compelling, evidence-based story to healthcare professionals, partners, employees and investors alike
You are a mature, down-to-earth leader with an inclusive and motivating leadership style and strong execution skills, and you thrive working closely with committed founders and an active Board
Experience from life science, MedTech or diagnostics is an advantage, but international commercial execution and scaling carry the most weight
You are fluent in English at negotiation level and are expected to be physically present at the company day to day. This requires living in or commuting from within reach of Greater Copenhagen, including from Skåne.
What we offer:
A rare opportunity to lead a Danish technology company with proven product-market fit, a global market and a product pipeline with significant growth potential. You will receive a competitive base salary and a simple, solid bonus model tied to measurable commercial and financial results.
